Students will learn machine learning concepts, practical uses of AI in everyday life and business, and the ethical questions that come with adopting AI. It's built for people who've never touched a line of code, which is exactly the point.
How the Partnership Breaks Down
Cyberiad Labs, a global AI research and training company, provides the course content, learning platform, and technical expertise. GetDigital Ltd runs the ground operation: outreach, learner recruitment, and community engagement across Uganda's districts.
Launch is online first. But there are already plans to extend access through community centres, universities, and mobile-friendly platforms to reach learners in rural areas, not just people in Kampala or the bigger towns.
Why One Million Isn't as Crazy as It Sounds
That number represents roughly two and a half per cent of Uganda's population. And the partners say a phased rollout makes it realistic: start in urban centres, build momentum, then push into underserved communities over the next four years.
AI is already reshaping agriculture, healthcare, financial services and education around the world. Uganda has one of the youngest, fastest-growing populations on the continent.
Sitting out this shift isn't really an option.
This partnership is built on a specific bet: that Ugandans shouldn't just use AI tools built somewhere else. They should be building solutions of their own.
What the Founders Say
"Every Ugandan deserves a seat at the table when it comes to artificial intelligence—not in five years, but now," said Mr. Otim Ronald Desmond, Founder of GetDigital. "Through this partnership with Cyberiad Labs, we are guaranteeing that seat. Our goal of one million AI-literate Ugandans by 2030 is a commitment to ensuring our people are not left behind as the world transforms around us."
"Uganda has one of the youngest and most dynamic populations on the continent, and the appetite for learning here is real," said Julien Barbier, Co-founder of Cyberiad Labs. "We built Cyberiad Labs to deliver world-class AI education at no cost, and GetDigital is the ideal partner to bring that mission to life in Uganda. Together, we can turn one million learners into one million builders."
